about

First issued in March of 2009, LOVE AT FIRST NIGHT is the only album New York songwriter Tim Ryan released in his lifetime.

After several starts-and-stops in different studios, Ryan finally settled with Palisade Studios in Hoboken, NJ. He brought in former Hit Factory engineer Scott Kammerer as producer. The hire was a calculated one. Ryan wasn't interested in critical vitality or cult status. Kammerer had worked with some industry heavyweights (Mick Jagger, Janet Jackson and Wyclef Jean to name a few) and knowing this, Tim wanted an album that could potentially produce a hit single.

Upon it's completion, Ryan rented a basement apartment in New York City and used it as a platform from which to jump into a full-time career as a musician. An exhaustive tri-state tour followed.

In a perfect world, "Jo Don't Let Me," and "No Other Way," would have populated Top 40 playlists all summer long. Unfortunately, Ryan never got the break (or the hit) he was hoping for. Disappointed, he packed his bags and moved to Long Island.

In the time following LAFN's release and its subsequent tour, Ryan could not bring himself to undergo a second round of promotion for the album. He needed a break and found it by serving a brief stint in the US Army after which he began composing music for a new LP.

That LP would never come, however, as Tim Ryan lost his life in a tragic auto accident on September 29, 2011. With no other proper LP to his credit, LOVE AT FIRST NIGHT forever serves as both Ryan's introduction and his last will and testament; it remains the only thing that bears his inimitible stamp both as a composer and musician.
